Today we are looking at some PLCs. I focused on the following three PLCs and researched their thoughts on online discussion forums-Flipgrid, Padlet, and Jamboard. Below are their thoughts on these programs.
The International Literacy Association
This PLC loves Flipgrid. They discuss how Flipgrid is one of the coolest tools out there because it allows our students to create connections with each other. There are endless possibilities to be used in the classroom, and it is easily used in all grade levels.
Padlet is a wonderful tool to use to create collaborative spaces. Not only can students use Padlet to reflect on their thinking, but they can also use it to take notes and organize their thoughts. Teachers can use it as a peer-reviewing tool.
Jamboard is a collaborative tool to help keeps kids engaged in the virtual classroom. There is not a lot of writing on this program.
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
This PLC offered a conference on incorporating Flipgrd, Padlet, and Jamboard into the mathematics classroom. These programs help promote meaningful mathematical discourse in the classroom.
National Association for the Education of Young Children
This PLC talked about how Flipgrid was used to make how-to videos during distance learning. It proved to be a vital tool in the success of students. Padlet was also monumental in the success of students. During the pandemic, schools created padlets to foster the sharing of ideas among stakeholders to create the best learning environments during the pandemic.
Overall, it seems like educators of all ages and content areas find these programs beneficial, especially in the era of distance learning. I wonder how they will be used now that we are returning back to normal(ish). What do you all think?
